Fraley, Miller among Madison’s staff members of the year

Nan Fraley and Dotty Miller are among school employees named Staff Member of the Year.

Fraley works as permanent substitute teacher at Horizon Elementary School.

“This is my fifth year working at Horizon elementary,” Fraley said. “I am blessed to work with the most wonderful group of people in the city of Madison and truly honored to be selected as Staff Member of the Year.”

Her hometown is Muscle Shoals. She graduated from Mars Hill Bible School in Florence and received a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from David Lipscomb University in Nashville.

Her husband Beri works as program manager for GAN Corporation. “Our daughters Anne Marie and Laura Beth are graduates of Bob Jones High School, and our youngest daughter Becca is a seventh-grader at Discovery Middle School,” she said.

Dotty Miller was recognized as Staff Member of the Year at Bob Jones for her work as registrar. “I interact with parents, students and staff concerning all aspects of the student’s academic records. My favorite part of this job is the students. They are absolutely wonderful. I just love getting to know them,” Miller said.

On Kwajalein, Marshall Islands, Miller worked in the community activities department. “It was a great job. We took care of 28 buildings, all athletic activities, golf course, small boat marina and teen center — basically, all the fun stuff,” she said.

Miller has worked as an attendance officer at Bob Jones and a substitute teacher. She graduated from the Berkeley School of Business in White Plains, N.Y. and grew up in Greenwich, Conn.

Her husband Bob works as a communication engineer for a private contractor affiliated with the missile defense program.

All Bob Jones graduates, the Millers’ children are Jonathan, 26, Georgia Institute of Technology graduate; David, 23, deployed overseas with the U.S. Army; and Farrah, a junior at Mississippi State University.

Miller enjoys walking, playing bridge, reading and watching old movies. She volunteers with Topsoccer, a program for children with any physical or mental disability.
