Steering Committee ready for Madison Street Festival

Madison residents have devoted months and unmitigated patience on the Madison Street Festival steering committee. Festival date is Oct. 6.

2012 festival president Debbie Overcash also is serving as food and beverage chairman.

Brenda Parker, chairman of the Arts & Crafts area, is coordinating 96 vendors of handmade merchandise. Chairman Michele Lee has 32 painters, sculptors and jewelry artisans scheduled in Artist Alley.

Chairman Lisa Clayton, assisted by Peggy Lycans and Sharon McFalls, is handling information booths with local entrepreneurs, churches and non-profit organizations. Gayle Milam is managing amusements, exhibits and demonstrations. Co-chairmen Pat Cross and Karen Morris have scheduled make-and-take crafts and fun activities in the Children’s Area.

Co-chairmen Lynne Chadwick, Dawn Drewnoski and Rhonda Fox have confirmed entertainment for two stages. The finance subcommittee includes chairman Christy Hall, Tim Holcombe, Misty Merschat, Tommy Overcash and Sandy Patel.

Chairman Holcombe, Cross and Morris are handling grant requests from local non-profit organizations. Hospitality chairman Beth Mumaw, along with Eulanda Shingleton, Kay Spence and Becky Warren, will offer breakfast snacks to vendors and refreshments for city workers and committee members during the festival.

Kyle Mumaw is chairing logistics for equipment handling, electricity, sanitation and traffic flow. Warren Munster, Keith Barshinger and Patel are helping. At the MSF Information Booth, chairman Lana Barshinger and Brian Mayfield will answer visitors’ questions, sell MSF T-shirts and offer festival maps.

Debbie Hoover is chairing the festival parade, which will leave from Insanity Skate Park at 8:30 a.m. Laura Cook is helping.

Publicity chairman is Stephenie Walker. This subcommittee includes Victoria Cumbow, Jennifer Few, Aaron Hurd, Felecia McInnish, Parker and Erica Slone.

As special events chairman, Ted Whitney is organizing the car show. Patel has handled online registrations for all vendors. Beth Ridgeway is webmaster (madisonstreetfestival.org).

Sally Warden has secured financial backing from sponsors. Chairman Merschat and Hall have identified volunteers for Oct. 6. Madison city attorney Kelly Butler is legal liaison.

Other officers are secretary Merschat, treasurer Hall and directors Holcombe and McInnish and past president Milam.
