Court, king candidates await homecoming on Friday

On Sept. 28, Principal Robby Parker will mark his 25th year to enjoy homecoming for Bob Jones High School. Parker ‘s enthusiasm has remained high over the years, as the 2012 homecoming court will start traditions of their own.

“It’s such a wonderful time,” Parker said. “Old friends and students come back, but it’s a very fun time for all the kids. Everyone can be involved in the parade. I absolutely love the game.”

Parker especially looks forward to the dinner for the homecoming court and their families at Limestone Bay Trading Company on Sept. 25. “We’ll have more than 100 people there,” he said.

In the homecoming court, the freshman maids are Meredith Collum, Anna McAbee, Claire Miller and Ashley Pursifull.

From the sophomore class, maids are Josie Cochran, Ashleigh Croom, Madi Duthu, Kayleigh Keith, Mary Kate Jefferson and Kaylee Rose. Junior maids are Audrey Ames, Megan Blume, Avey Gooch, Devyn Guillebeaux, Caroline Jackson, Samantha Juliao, Caitlin Lindquist and Lindsey Solomon.

Maids from the Class of 2013 are Ana Azizian, Hannah Bickel, Madi Hutt, Drew Jones, Sara Lancaster, Jennifer Lee, Nicole McDuffie, Madison Rolling, Sarah Smyth and Jazmyn Wright.

Taylor Dahlgren, the 2011 homecoming queen, will crown her successor during halftime of the Bob Jones Patriots and Huntsville High Panthers football game. The name of the 2012 queen will be kept secret until she is crowned at halftime.

Vying for homecoming king are seniors Trey Bankhead, Adam Dodson, Kenneth Fu, Dustin Haraway, David Hergenroeder, Austin Metcalfe, Cortez Nance, Carter Palek, Seth Parker and Spencer Smith.

The homecoming dance on Sept. 29 will wrap up the celebrations for Bob Jones students. A deejay will spin records for couples, singles and friends to dance for hours in the school gym.

“I enjoy the entire week, ” Parker said. “The dance is always fun — well …. mainly for the kids.”
