Madison’s fashion horizon broadens with Twiggie’s Boutique

From casual sweaters and denim to the ‘perfect little black dress,’ Twiggie’s Boutique has brought new styles to town.

Owner Susanna Burkett believes anyone can shop at Twiggie’s — young adults, college students, trendy moms or even grandmothers. “For anyone who wants to make a statement, be a little different and stand out in the crowd, this is the place to shop,” she said.

“Whether you’re looking for an inexpensive gift or an upscale accessory, Twiggie’s has it all,” Burkett said.

Twiggie’s offers simple blazers to dress up any outfit or jeans, dresses for all occasions and accessories to complement an outfit. In denim, Twiggie’s has size 0 through 12 (24-31). Most shirts and dresses are available from XS through XL.

The store name “was a no-brainer.” Burkett’s father nicknamed her ‘Twiggie’ when she was five.

Belts, handbags, shoes and jewelry at Twiggie’s can accessorize any outfit. “Our Nancy Zylstra swanky belts are beautiful Italian leather and ‘Made in the USA,'” Burkett said. Zylstra’s triple-wrap bracelet appears in Martha Stewart’s “Style and Beauty Gift List” and the holiday issue of “Martha Stewart Living” magazine.

In home accents, Twiggie’s has the Thymes Frasier Fir Poured Candle and Home Fragrance Mist. “We’ll welcome Capri Blue Volcano candles this month,” Burkett said.

Located in Madison Commons, Twiggie’s address is 1593 Hughes Road, Suite E — convenient for both Madison and Huntsville customers. “Madison Commons is a high-traffic area with very friendly people occupying surrounding spaces,” she said.

Burkett has always been passionate for art, fashion and design. She worked in retail through college in Tuscaloosa and enjoyed setting up displays, meeting new people and helping customers. “In the back of my mind, I wanted to open a store someday,” she said. After working primarily in an office, she “realized I wouldn’t be content until I pursued my dream of opening my own boutique.”

The February 2013 issue of “Madison Living” magazine will feature Twiggie’s Boutique. For more information, visit twiggiesboutique.com and Facebook/twiggiesboutique.
