MADISON – A Madison couple continued a family tradition of not only having twins, but also being the first twins born at a hospital.

Jennifer Young and her husband Daniel welcomed a set of girls into the world on Feb. 5 making Robyn and Chloe Young the first twins ever born in Madison Hospital.  Having twins is nothing new to Jennifer Young’s family. Jennifer and her sister Jessica Dotson were the first twins born at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in Ft. Campbell, KY.

Daniel Young, a former Marine, said that despite the pressure of having twins, he and his wife were prepared months in advance.

“I am happy and I was ready for it,” Young said. “We had months to prepare and get the mind right and be ready. It’s a crazy coincidence and I don’t think you could you plan it even if you tried.”

Young’s mother Debra Dotson said that she is thrilled that her daughter welcomed two healthy twins into the world and remained her daughter that she is not alone.

“When I had Jennifer and Jessica, their father was in the military,” Dotson said. “So I mostly did it by myself for a year so I told her that she has a lot of help so it will be a lot easier for her.”

Dotson was quick to add playfully that her daughter having twins was “payback” for when she had Young and her sister.

The Young and Dotson families were not the only families with twins during the delivery process. Nurses Melanie Craig, who has 10-year-old twin boys and Laura Beth Cole, who has a 5-year-old boy and girl, said that the irony of so many twin connections is astounding.

“We just think of it as a blessing and that it is amazing,” Craig said. “What are the chances?”

Daniel Young said that the care his wife received at Madison Hospital was fantastic and that he is looking forward to watch his infant twins grow in the years to come.

“I’m excited to watch them grow up and change,” he said. “Watching their personalities come out will be the best part.”
