MADISON- With spring break behind them, Bob Jones players in all the spring sports turn their attention to critical area games coming up this week.

First up is softball on Tuesday night at 5 p.m. against Sparkman. Both Bob Jones and Sparkman trail Buckhorn in Area 15 standings and this home game becomes critical. Sparkman retained their top ranking in the state despite losing to Buckhorn 11-5 on March 14.

Bob Jones lost to Buckhorn 14-5 on March 12.

Also Tuesday night, the Bob Jones baseball team travels to Austin for a doubleheader. These are non-area games.

Over spring break, the surging Patriots (19-7) won five games including an 8-7 win over Class 6A No. 1 Smith’s Station to win the Gulf Coast Classic II baseball championship on Thursday, March 28 at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

Bob Jones must quickly turn their attention to the Area 15 race with co-leader Buckhorn first up. The teams will play Friday night April 5 at 6 p.m. at Bob Jones and resume the series at 1 p.m. Saturday at Buckhorn. Both teams have a series win so far in area play.

Patriot batters will have a tough test facing All-State pitcher Kyle Wright who is undefeated at 4-0 this season. Wright also plays shortstop.

The girl’s soccer team is coming off an impressive 6-0 win over James Clemens and now faces their toughest stretch of games so far this season with Grissom on Tuesday night April 2 and Huntsville a week later on April 9. Both games are on the road.

Only one more Area 14 game remains for the girl’s soccer team. A home game April 11 against James Clemens will wrap up area play.

The boy’s soccer team has a game at Buckhorn this Wednesday and games at Huntsville and Lee next week. The April 10 meeting with Lee is an area game.

The Track and Field season is well underway and the big event for the Bob Jones team as always is the Bob Jones Invitational. This year the event will be on April 26-27.

Meanwhile, Bob Jones football coach Kevin Rose has announced that spring football practice will begin April 29 and wrap up with a spring practice game on May 10 against Hewitt-Trussville at Madison City School Stadium.
