MADISON — The availability for healthcare in Madison is on the rise and Crestwood Medical Center is leading the way.
The Huntsville-based hospital held a ribbon cutting on April 16 to unveil their brand new Diagnostic Center located at 20 Hughes Rd. in Madison.
“We have expanded into the city of Madison for the past 10 years,” Dr. Pam Hudson, CEO of Crestwood Medical Center said. “We have worked through various practices here and this new Diagnostic Center will assist those practices now.”
The center will now cut down the travel time to their location in Huntsville, Hudson said. X-rays, cat-scans and a center to study sleeping patterns are all now available in Madison.
“With the growth in Madison, it just makes sense to be out here and serve them better,” Hudson said. “Along the Madison Blvd. corridor, we have been involved with a number of primary care practices and this is just a new way for Madison residents to get care locally.”
In 2012, Crestwood opened three primary care practices in Madison with newly recruited family medicine physicians. Practices include Madison Boulevard Family Practice with Dr. Tiffany Hendricks, County Line Family Practice with Dr. Shivani Malhotra and Madison Family Health Center on Essex Court with Dr. Bhavna Sharma.
The new facility was in the works for several years several years before Crestwood broke ground in 2012.
“I remember when we were out here last year in the mud and in the rain breaking ground,” Madison Mayor Troy Trulock said. “It is a great day for the City of Madison and we are glad to have Crestwood here to provide quality healthcare to our residents.”
Hudson said Crestwood is always looking to serve anyway they can in the future in Madison.
“We continue to support physicians and try to bring them to this area,” she said. “There are issues from preventing us from having a bigger presence than we’d like but we continue figure out what the best way is to serve patients in this area.”
