MADISON – An antique lover’s dream, Belle Mina Station has opened in the neighboring, historic hamlet west of Madison.

Owner Michelle Adrian of Madison relishes the ‘hunt’ for collectibles. “Antiques are our passion. We’re an antiques store, first and foremost,” Adrian said. Styles range from primitive, rustic, retro to shabby chic, along with vintage-style home decor and gifts.

Belle Mina Station also carries candles from Cindi Sanderson’s CWS Interiors and handcrafted items by Lauren Wilkins of Bei Doni Boutique and Camella Sparks.

“We pride ourselves on having uncommon goods,” Adrian said. Some unusual items are a four-way signal railroad light, vintage “Concert Hall” signage from the Von Braun Center and a 1950s pedal airplane, used by Madison photographer Sarah Brewer with Click Photo Designs.

Primitive and farmhouse pieces are quite popular, Adrian said. In newer decor, hanging tin chalkboards and cotton wreaths, stems and garlands are grabbing attention. “In the antiques business, (you) never know what someone will be on the hunt for. It’s so special to see them find it in our store.”

Belle Mina Station has the country feel Adrian wanted but is convenient to Madison, Huntsville, Athens and Decatur and about a mile from I-565 and two miles from I-65.

She and husband Mark met while working for NASA contractors. In 2003, he founded Adrian Technologies, an engineering consultant business. Michelle eventually started to work with him. “We purchased a rustic little cabin in the woods as a retreat, and antiques just seemed a perfect fit,” she said.

Their daughter Niki Miller is Michelle’s antiquing partner and works part time at Huntsville Hospital. “We have so much fun building our business and traveling on ‘picking’ adventures,” Michelle said. In May, their son Jacob will graduate with honors from the University of Alabama and will enter law school this fall.

Although in Belle Mina, the store’s mailing address is 6855 Mooresville Road, Tanner, AL 35671. Store hours are Wednesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
