MADISON  — In just a week of being open, The Cotton Gin Boutique is already providing women of all ages with the latest fashion.

Malinda Collum, owner of The Cotton Gin, said she came up with the concept of the idea in August of last year. Almost one year later, Collum said her dream of owning a clothing store is more than she ever imagined.

“I felt there was a need for it in our area,” Collum said. “I offer clothing for all ages from petite to plus sizes. My clothes range from casual all the way to dressy so if you need something for a wedding, I have it or just for an evening out, I have it. We’re very broad here when it comes to our clothes.”

Colorful patterns and designs line the inside walls of the boutique. But clothing is not the only thing The Cotton Gin offers shoes, jewelry and gift items are also available.

“Not only can they find a shirt, jeans or a dress, they can also find  jewelery to go along with it,” she said. “I’ve had a lot of women come in here thinking how great it is to  buy a whole outfit.”

Collum said when she looked for a location for her new boutique, she knew right away that the new 14 Main Street location was a perfect choice.

“The quaintness of downtown Madison makes this a really appealing location,” she said. “I travel a lot with my daughters who play travel sports and we noticed a lot of downtown areas have boutiques. So I just thought one would do well in downtown Madison.”

When it comes to age, size or anything at all, not one customer is to be excluded and customer service is one thing Collum said she prides herself on.

“We are here to find the perfect outfit for you,” she said.
