MADISON – Local performer Terrena Mann will appear in Huntsville Community Chorus Association’s (HCCA) production of “The Dastardly Doctor Devereaux.”

Billed as a “musical melodrama,” the show has “an abundance of zany patients, wild tunes and a hilarious plot. This musical melodrama will keep you in stitches all night. As they say, ‘Nurses! Foiled again!,” Mann said.

Tickets are $25 for dinner theatre shows on May 31 and June 1, 2, 6 and 8 at 6 p.m. Steak is on the menu. Matinees on June 1,2 and 8 at 2 p.m. will include dessert for $15.

The show will be staged at Wesley Hall of Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntsville. For tickets, call 256-533-6606 or visit theChorus.org.

As a parent volunteer, Mann started an after-school drama program at Columbia Elementary School in 2010. Columbia’s first show, “Suessical Jr.,” attracted 60 participants. This year’s “Alice In Wonderland” cast grew to 121 students in grades K-6.

Mann donates her time to Columbia “to encourage students to find self-esteem, pride and friendships by participating in theatrical arts.”

Now, Mann is applying her talent as assistant director, choreographer and acting as antagonist Trixie St. James for “The Dastardly Doctor Devereaux.”

After moving from California six years ago, Mann first appeared HCCA’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” in 2011. Her 2012 portrayal of Mimi in “Rent” with Independent Musical Productions earned a “Best Actress” nomination for a Huntsville Wings Award.

Last year, Mann choreographed and performed in HCCA’s “Showtune: A Musical Revue.”

Mann has performed on the Opry circuit throughout Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma as Ms. Junior America Teen Texas. She entertained at Six Flags in San Antonio, Dollywood, other Pigeon Forge, Tenn. shows and competed on “Ed McMahon’s Star Search.”

Many people “know they were meant for the stage but need direction. Not everyone is going to be a star, but ‘shoot for the moon.’ I love being a part of the ride,” Mann said.
