SunDrop distribution center robbed, suspects flee east

By Aldo Amato

Staff Reporter

MADISON — Limestone County Sheriff’s investigators said they are looking for two suspects in an overnight robbery.

Capt. Stanley McNatt said at around 7:45 p.m. on May 28, a SunDrop warehouse manager was struck from behind on his head from what investigators believe is a handgun. The warehouse manager was carrying a bag of night deposit receipts.

The manager was transported to Athens-Limestone Hospital with minor injuries to the head. “He received a knot and minor cuts to the head,” McNatt said.

Investigators got a brief description of one of the suspects. They are looking for a black male with dreads in a mid-sized silver car. McNatt said the suspects fled eastbound most likely into neighboring Madison County.

Despite numerous reports, McNatt said the center is not located in Madison-annexed Limestone County. However the center is located at 29599 Old Highway 20, half a mile from County Line Road.

Marketing Manager for the SunDrop distribution center and Madison City Councilman Tim Holcombe confirmed a robbery took place but declined to release further details.

If anyone has any information concerning the robbery or information leading to an arrest can contact the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office at 256-232-0111.
