TRIANA – Checking out books from a new library soon will be a reality for the residents of Triana.

The Town of Triana will host a groundbreaking ceremony for construction of their new public library on June 14 at 4 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the town’s municipal building at 640 Sixth St.

At the groundbreaking, Mayor Mary Caudle, City Council members and other civic leaders will offer remarks. The public is invited.

In September 2009, fire devastated the building that housed the small town’s library and the Triana Boys and Girls Club, Caudle said.

Leadership Huntsville-Madison County was instrumental in uniting the Town of Triana, Huntsville-Madison County Public Library system, community leaders and local businesses “to re-establish one of the town’s vital resources for the citizens of Triana by assisting in securing a temporary building to house the library,” Caudle said.

Caudle and fellow residents “are so excited to start the process of rebuilding our library. I am so proud of how our community has rallied together to make this happen,” she said. “Finding funds to help rebuild the library was a very long process, but the time is finally here.”

Individuals can donate to the library project at the Triana Municipal Building or at First Commercial Bank at 11 Hughes Road in Madison. Make checks payable to “Town of Triana Library Re-Building Fund.” Donations also can be mailed to Town of Triana, Attention – Triana Public Library Re-Building Fund, 640 6th Ave., Madison AL 35756.

For more information, call the mayor’s office at 256-772-0151 or email to caudletriana@bellsouth.net.
