MADISON – Pints for Paws will raise funds for homeless animals as guests raise their glass for the cause.

Madison Animal and Rescue Foundation (MARF) will use proceeds “for veterinarian care of the dogs and cats we rescue,” founder Miki Bennett said. “All our animals are fully ‘vetted,’ treated for any issues and spay/neutered prior to adoption.”

Blue Pant Brewery, 500 Lanier Road will host Pints for Paws on Aug. 17 from 6 to 10 p.m. Pints for Paws is a natural fit for the brewery and non-profit group. “We’ll have great entertainment, good food and nice silent auction items … not to mention great microbrews, while raising money to help homeless animals of Madison,” Bennett said.

Guests will enjoy savory barbecue as they sip on unlimited beer samples of four of Blue Pants’ favorite brews (as long as these last). Admission also covers one ‘full glass’ of beer.

While guests sip and relax, Jonathan Laird will deliver “a hooky slice of happiness by combining head-bopping grooves, silky vocals and picturesque lyricism. It’s a style of modern pop that meshes elements of Paul Simon and John Mayer with George Benson and Jason Mraz,” Bennett said. Laird was selected “Best Jazz Artist” by “Valley Planet” readers.

To-date, silent auction items include framed Daniel Moore print from Alabama Framer Inc.; Jennifer Martin’s Art, Spirited Art, Mary Nevins Costa and Pamela Willis Watters, art pieces; Bodacious Pet Spa and Paradise Pet Resort, grooming; Theater Huntsville and Huntsville Ballet Company, tickets; Osborne Jewelers, Lagos Signature rope bracelet; and Advocare, Blue Sky and Posh Mommy & Baby, gift baskets.

MARF always needs foster homes and funding. “Our vet bills average $100,000 per year,” Bennett said. “Fundraising, adoption fees and donations are our only source of income.”

Tickets to Pints for Paws are $25 and available at Blue Pants, from MARF volunteers or adoption events at PetCo on Saturdays or at the door. Children or animals will not be admitted.
