MADISON – The eleventh annual Parrots of the Caribbean party will take flight Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m.

The place to be and be seen is 58 Martin St. as the Rotary Club of Madison hosts its major fundraiser for the year with nods to Jimmy Buffet and his Margaritaville environs.

“Parrots of the Caribbean gets more popular every year and has grown by leaps and bounds. We’re sure we have a winning formula,” Parrots chairman and presidential nominee Gene Pheiffer said.

The boogie will blaze when The Zooks open on-stage, followed by Four on the Floor, who will rock out with hits from the 1950s through 1980s, publicist Peter Alvarez said.

Bidding will be brisk for a multitude of raffle baskets. Local businesses and Rotarians have donated gift certificates, artwork, sports memorabilia, wine and home accessories.

For appetizers, guests can order nacho chips with ground beef, cheese, lettuce and diced tomatoes. Beverages will include margaritas, various wines, Bud Light and Land Shark draft beer and soft drinks.

For an entree, the choices are a “Grilled Down-Island Chicken” with mango salsa served with rice and a vegetable medley, grilled shrimp with the same sides, along with catfish or cheeseburger with French fries and all the fixings. Cheesecake is available for dessert.

Tickets are $20 and available from any Madison Rotarian or at parrots2013.eventbrite.com ($2.09 service charge). Tickets at the event are $25. Guests must be at least 21 years old. Redstone Federal Credit Union will have an ATM onsite.

For group ticket purchases, call 256-564-2075.

Rotary’s local projects include the Triana Boys and Girls Club, Hogan Family YMCA, Madison Public Library, Madison Hospital Foundation and Madison Senior Center.

Regionally, benevolence recipients include Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham and Wounded Warriors. Globally, Madison Rotarians work in Honduras with the Eco-Stove project and support polio eradication.
