College upperclassmen can apply for legislative internships

MADISON – College upperclassmen can apply to serve in the Alabama Legislative Internship program.

Alabama State Senator Arthur Orr announced that the Alabama Law Institute is accepting applications for the internship program, which runs concurrently with the regular session of the 2014 Alabama legislative session. Orr serves on the institute’s executive committee.

Interns work Monday through Thursday from Jan. 7 to April 28, 2014. Students often can earn academic credit. “Internships allow college students the opportunity to observe and be involved in the legislative process of state government,” Orr said.

To qualify, a student must be at least a college junior and either an Alabama resident or attending college in Alabama. Applications are available at ali.state.al.us.

Application deadline is Oct. 1. For more information, call Dalton Doyle at 334-242-0958.
