July 21, 1934 – October 7, 2013

Maj. (Ret.) David E. Jersey, Sr. USMC, 79, of Madison, passed away Monday. Mr. Jersey was preceded in death by his parents, Blanche and Howard Jersey; brothers, Richard and Don; sisters, Sally and Charlotte; and a beloved son, David E. Jersey, Jr.

After 21 years of service, Mr. Jersey retired from the US Marine Corps. He officiated sports for 50 years and was inducted into the National Softball Association Hall of Fame in 2010.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 34 years, Bobbie Jersey; daughters, Tami Roberts of Gulf Shores and Lori Harvey (Michael) of Lawrenceburg, TN; grandchildren, Angena Lain (John), Becky Reese (Robert), Ricky Kuhn, Jamie White (Joseph), Carter Jersey and Forest Jersey; eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Jersey (Wynette) of Swainsboro, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.

Visitation were held Thursday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service followed in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Marshall Daigre officiating. There was also a visitation at Saturday at Berry Funeral Home in Knoxville Tennessee. A funeral service immediately followed with Michael Goodner officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Knoxville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
