“Spooktacular Science” is Sci-Quest’s annual family-friendly Halloween event and will be held on Oct. 25 and 26, Sci-quest Marketing Manager Jennifer Deermer said.

“Celebrate the chills and thrills of Halloween at Sci-Quest’s Spooktacular Science event, where creepy chemistry and mysterious science combine to provide a hauntingly good time for the entire family,” Deermer said.

For 2013, guests can look forward to various spooky activities and thrilling demonstrations. Halloween activity stations will be set up throughout the science center.

“Sci-Quest’s own mad scientists will put on a live mysterious chemistry show with bubbling potions, wicked brews and spectacular fire displays,” Deermer said. Other shenanigans will include the Grossology Show, Halloween Animal Room, glow-in-the-dark slime, face painting, dry ice experiments and electric levitation.

Deermer urges parents to dress their children in their favorite Halloween costumes and enter the kids’ costume contest, which will be conducted both nights with fun prizes for outstanding characters.

“We have a lot of fun with Spooktacular Science, because we get to mix exciting science experiments with spooky fun for the entire family,” Sci-Quest Director of Education Angela Giles said.

Spooktacular Science hours on Oct. 25 will be 6 to 9 p.m. On Oct. 26, the ghoulish goings-on will be held from 3 to 6 p.m.

For Sci-Quest members, advance admission is $7 or $10 at the event. Individuals who aren’t Sci-Quest members will pay $10 in advance or $12 at the door each day.

Sci-Quest’s current address is 102-D Wynn Drive in Huntsville. For more information and to purchase advance tickets, call 256-837-0606 or visit sci-quest.org.
