Liberty eighth-grade volleyball team nabs county championship

MADISON – The eighth-grade volleyball team at Liberty Middle School won the Madison County 6A Middle School Championship Tournament.

Liberty’s eighth-grade volleyball team won the county championship. “The eighth-grade team defeated Buckhorn in the championship match at Buckhorn Middle School on Oct. 8 to capture the 2013 county championship,” coach Jodi Jones said. Mike Thorum also coaches the team.

Katie Sharp, Brittan Davis and Sydney Miller were named to the Madison County All-Tournament Team.

In other action, the Lady Lions won their division at the Madison Academy Tournament and the Bumpus Invitational in Hoover. “They had a 9-1 season in Class 6A play,” Jones said.
