MADISON – Young mathematicians from Discovery Middle Schools earned honors recently at the 2013 Vestavia Hills High School Math Tournament.

“More than 1,600 kids were at this tournament, so it is extremely impressive to earn an individual award,” Julie Goldston said. Goldston teaches math and serves as math team coach at Discovery.

Discovery’s eighth-grade team earned second place in the tourney, while the seventh-grade team ranked in third place.

In individual awards, David Li and Shantanu Kadam both captured fourth place for their grade levels. Other place winners were Warren He in sixth and Alan Grissom in eighth place individually.
