HUNTSVILLE – After closing to move on Nov. 30, Sci-Quest Hands-on Science Center will host a grand re-opening at 1435 Paramount Drive in Huntsville on Feb. 1.

The event will start at 9 a.m. The public is invited to attend and see the new site, and interactive science demos and hands-on activities will be scheduled throughout the day.

“The Paramount Drive location is a temporary location until we can raise the needed funds for the Madison location,” Sci-Quest Marketing Manager Jennifer Deermer said. Paramount Drive is off University Drive and east of Slaughter Road.

Sci-Quest closed to move from the Calhoun Community College campus at 102-D Wynn Drive, where the center had operated for the last 15 years.

“Sci-Quest relocated due to Calhoun’s plans for its own expansion at the Huntsville campus,” Deermer said. “Even during the two-month closure, Sci-Quest has continued with its education programs for the community.”

“We are excited to re-open our doors to the public and let them explore our new location,” Sci-Quest Executive Director Cyndy Morgan said. “Our goal is to be a state-of-the-art community science center that the public will use as a hands-on educational resource for all ages.”

During February, Sci-Quest will resume on-site programs and special events, including field trips and birthday parties. The center will host a Parents’ Night Out on Feb. 14 for Valentine’s Day and again on Feb. 22.

“Home School Science” and “Sprouting Scientists” sessions will continue at an off-site location through February.

Sci-Quest will be open seven days each week. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults and $9 for children and seniors. Two-year-olds and younger are admitted free. Memberships are available.
