George Pendleton Kemp, 84, of Madison, Alabama, passed away Thursday. Mr. Kemp was a member of Mayfair Church of Christ. Prior to moving to Huntsville and joining Mayfair, he served the Lord at McKnight Road Church of Christ in St. Louis, Missouri as a teacher, treasurer, business manager, deacon and elder. He served on the board of the Kilo Foundation, Camp Neotez and taught banking for 17 years at the junior college in Union, Missouri. He was president of the Optimist Club in Madison, president of the Pacific Missouri Chamber of Commerce and served on various bank boards. He was preceded in death by his son, David E. Kemp. He was an avid reader, bible scholar, fisherman, woodworker, loving husband, great father and grandfather of 3.

Survivors include wife of 64 years, Clara E. Kemp; son, Greg Kemp (Paige) of Huntsville; daughter, Donna Duggan (George) of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Elizabeth Kemp Ballard, Jeffrey M. Duggan and Andrew D. Duggan; brother, Francis Kemp of San Juan Capistrano, California; half-brothers, Warner Barber of Dallas, Texas and Gary R. Barber of California.

Visitation was held Sunday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service followed at the funeral home chapel with Dr. Gary Bradley officiating. Burial was in Huntsville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baja Missions c/o Mayfair Church of Christ, 1095 Carl T. Jones Dr., Huntsville, Alabama 35802 or a charity of your choice.
