MADISON – An outreach program on cyber security, dubbed “Bsides Huntsville Conference,” targeted for youth will held at Calhoun Community College on Feb. 8.

The North Alabama chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) is sponsoring the event. The conference may especially interest middle and high school students who are considering careers in cyber security. Parents also are welcome to attend.

The conference is designed to excite and encourage the next generation of computer scientists and ‘Cyber Warriors.’ High and middle school students will be in the spotlight as they channel their love for gadgets, video games and learning to help in channels for information technology (IT).

Various speakers are scheduled to present topics in Cyber Security that may promote students’ interest in pursuing a career in computer science.

The North Alabama Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association is a non-profit organization consisting of more than 190 information security professionals and practitioners in the Tennessee Valley.

The association provides educational forums, publications and professional networking opportunities to enhance the knowledge, skill and professional growth of its members and local community. The local ISSA chapter is affiliated with the international counterpart, conforms to its professional and organizational guidelines and supports the ISSA Code of Ethics.

Student admission is $10 and includes lunch. Adults who are accompanying a child are admitted free. Seating is limited to 150 participants. To order tickets, visit eventbrite.com/e/bsides-huntsville-2014-tickets-8971829985.
