HUNTSVILLE – The U.S. Space & Rocket Center in partnership with Rocket City Mom will host the 2014 Learning Expo on Saturday.

The event at The Davidson Center will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The expo is free and open to the public.

The expo “brings parents and educational resources together for an ‘out-of-this-world’ experience,” Rocket City Mom editor Stephenie Walker said. “Parents and students alike will be able to explore all of their local educational options at the expo booths set up underneath the Saturn V Rocket.”

Representatives from leading, local independent schools, preschools and home-schooling organizations will attend, answer questions and give details about their programs and their students. Participants can learn how to find the right educational experience for their children, Walker said.

“Attendees can find out about the admissions process, when to apply and what schools look for in potential students,” Walker said. “You can determine your budget and receive information about scholarships and financial aid.”

“The day is also filled with entertainment and informative sessions so the whole family will get something from the experience,” Walker said. Eco-magician and musician Steve Trash will headline the expo with performances at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

“Several popular question-and-answer sessions from last year’s expo will return this year, including sessions like ‘How to Home-School in Alabama’ and ‘Preparing Your Child for Kindergarten,'” Walker said.

Presentations new for 2014 include “Saving for College: The 529 Plan Explained” and “Strategies for your Non-Traditional Learner.”

For more information, call Walker at 256-426-8300 or email to swalker@rocketcitymom.com.
