Mother Ella Jane Lacy Binford was born to the late Andrew and Ella Langford Lacy on July 14, 1935 in Madison County, Alabama. She departed this life on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at home surrounded by family and friends. She was the 9th child out of 14 children. Ten siblings preceded her in death: Mamie, Robert, Dave, Andrew Jr., Lucille, Ethel Lee, Daisy, Connie, Peter and Joe.
Ella confessed faith in Christ on September 1956 under the leadership of the late Reverend William A. Holman. She was a faithful worker in church ministries. She served as church secretary, president of choir #1, usher board, member of the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Association Mother’s Union, Women’s Congress and Sunday School BTU until her health started failing her. She loved to sing and mostly loved her St. Andrew Church family.
She attended Council Training High School and received her GED. She retired from Chrysler Corporation after 25 years. She enjoyed baking cakes for her family and friends on special occasions. She was a member of the Glittering Star Chapter #94 Order of Eastern Star. She also loved her fancy hats to match her suits and loved her color of red.
She leaves to cherish her memory two devoted daughters, Theresa (John) Nelson III, Carolyn Binford of Triana, AL; one adopted daughter, Mary A Massey of Huntsville, AL; step-daughter, Annie Lee (James) Stevens of Harvest, AL; step-son, Jeff (Pat) Rice of Madison, AL; three grandchildren, Tanya Binford, Tahesa Nelson, Quintin Binford, all of Triana, AL; two great grandchildren, Jonathan Shoulders and Austin Krueger of Triana, AL; two sisters, Catherine Lacy of Triana, AL and Pauline Lacy of Huntsville, AL; sisters-in-law, Mahalia Lacy, Emma Keith of Triana, AL, Ollie M. Lacy of Madison, AL, Rose Lacy and Lonnie Lacy of Huntsville, AL; and a host of family and dear friends.
Funeral service was held on Sunday, at St. Andrews Primitive Baptist Church (1393 Swancott Road, Madison, AL 35756) with Pastor Michael Hartwell officiating. Interment was in the Faith Memorial Park.
