MADISON – Tri-M Music Honor Society believes that undiscovered talent will shine at the upcoming talent show at Bob Jones High School.

Tri-M is sponsoring the show in Zompa Auditorium on April 4 at 7 p.m. The event is open to the public, and no admission will be charged.

“The officers of Tri-M decided that they wanted to show off talent within the school and the honor society,” sponsor Leigh Thomas said. “They wanted to celebrate the wide variety of talent that Bob Jones has to offer.”

Thomas is assistant band director at Bob Jones.

For a student or group to enter the show, these applicants “must demonstrate their talents and show a definite interest in showing off those talents to others,” Thomas said. “Thirty acts have registered as of now.”

About seven bands will be performing, along with several small groups and solo acts. Some bands that have registered are the Upbeats, Tatonka, The Azure Brotherhood of Enlightened Trumpets and Punkleberry.

Acts will perform in four categories: individual singing, individual music, bands and miscellaneous, which will include comedy and poetry. Three judges will “base decisions on talent and demonstration of that talent,” Thomas said. “First- and second-place in each category will receive a cash prize.”

Tri-M Music Honor Society is an international organization that recognizes secondary students for academic and musical achievements. Tri-M inspires other students to excel at music and leadership. Students have chartered more than 5,500 chapters, which are affiliated with the National Association for Music Education.

To sign up for auditions, students can visit trim.questionform.com/public/Bob-Jones-Talent-Show-Sign-Up-. The last audition day will be March 20.
