MADISON – Church members, individuals and small groups will join together to better the community during “Serving the City As One” on April 5.

The annual event allows churches in Madison, Huntsville and surrounding communities to unite and practically demonstrate their teachings by service projects.

Four churches are serving as hub sites for Serving the City as One:

* First Baptist Church of Huntsville, 600 Governors Drive — Central hub

* Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 315 Winchester Road — North Huntsville hub

* Willowbrook Baptist Church, 7625 Bailey Cove Road — South Huntsville hub

* CrossPointe Church, 719 Hughes Road — Madison hub

“Serving the City as One is a great way to put the love of God on display through our churches serving together as a show of our unity,” CrossPointe Executive Pastor Garry Jordan said.

“Needs in the city can be met while building relationships, in hopes of having an opportunity to share Christ,” Rev. Brian Mayfield said. Mayfield serves as lead pastor at The Brook, one of numerous churches involved with the effort.

“Serving the City is a great way to follow the example of serving that Jesus set for us. The Brook will be sponsoring several projects,” Mayfield said.

As examples of service projects, The Brook will work with CASA to paint wheelchair ramps, along with operating two stations for free oil changes. The Brook and The ARC will provide a truck for document shredding at Bob Jones High School.

Over the years, Inside-Out Ministries has assisted in multiple functions for Serving the City. Call 256-325-5193, email to info@inside-outministries.org or visit inside-outministries.org.

To sign up for a project, visit servingthecityonline.com/hub-sites. Individuals can indicate their first, second and third choices for service work. Online registration is open through March 31.
