MADISON – Janice Alex has been hired as events and marketing coordinator for Madison Chamber of Commerce.

In dealing with public relations, Alex will write the monthly newsletter, plan monthly luncheons and promote all types of chamber events, such as Business After-Hours, Connect 2015, Small Business Awards and MadFood.

Currently, she is planning the Madison Business Expo and Kids Day on July 26 at Hogan Family YMCA. The expo “is a great event for the community. I’m excited to be a large part of it,” Alex said.

Since college, she worked for Reid/O’Donahue Advertising in Montgomery, first onsite and then telecommuting for almost 19 years. “I’ve always been interested in public relations and advertising. I … love to see plans come to fruition and succeed,” Alex said.

In 2004, her husband’s job brought them to North Alabama. “We chose Madison because of the awesome public schools and because it’s a great community to raise a family,” Alex said.

“I love seeing businesses and events succeed and being an integral part of that from start to finish,” Alex said. “I also love building relationships with people.”

Alex hopes to grow chamber events, like a professional development series and “give back more to our members and community.”

She earned a bachelor’s degree in communication/public relations and minors in Spanish and English at the University of Alabama.

Her husband James work as a consultant with Accenture. Their children are James, 18, freshman at Auburn University; Chappell, 16, junior at Bob Jones High School; and Drew, 11, sixth-grader at Rainbow Elementary School.

Madison Chamber of Commerce’s address is 130 Park Square Lane in the Hogan Family YMCA. For more information, call 256-325-8317, ext. 320 or visit madisonALchamber.com.
