Mattie Lillie Anthony August 29, 1922 – July 12, 2014

Mattie Lillie Anthony of Madison, AL, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Mrs. Anthony was born in Gurley, AL on August 29, 1922. She was 91 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Anthony; parents, John S. and Maude Lillie Gray; brothers, John R. Gray and James (Jim) S. Gray; sisters, Flora Broyles, Mildred Carrol, Nettie Thomas and Clara Mason.

Mrs. Anthony is survived by her son, Elder Jimmy (Rose) Anthony; daughters, Shirley (Jessie Wayne) Wilbanks and Barbara (Blackie) Martin; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren and one on the way.

Visitation was from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Valhalla Funeral Home. The Funeral Service was held in the chapel of Valhalla Funeral Home Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Jerome Hilliard and Elder Darrel Chambers officiate. Interment followed in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
