MADISON – Thrills of the Scrambler, spinning on the carousel and midway games will return on Oct. 10-11 for the James Clemens High School Carnival and Fall Festival.

The James Clemens and Liberty Middle School baseball teams are sponsoring the carnival in its third year. The fun will run from 5 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 10 and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Oct. 11 in the south parking lot of the James Clemens campus.

Along with traditional carnival fun, the fall festival will interest adults with a diverse roster of vendors. Visitors can browse products, clothing and services, James Clemens baseball coach Shane Medlen said.

Vendors will offer kitchen gadgets, home decor items, exercise classes, health foods, jewelry, embroidery, foods and coffees.

Teenagers and couples can ride the Ferris wheel, swings, slide, Hustler, Zipper and the ever-popular Scrambler thrill ride. For families, the younger children will have fun on the bumper cars and merry-go-round, among other attractions.

And what’s a carnival without midway food? Fair visitors can munch on steak or sausage sandwiches, corn dogs, French fries, funnel cakes, snow cones, candy apples, popcorn and cotton candy, along with lemonade and fountain drinks.

“We’ll have our dunking booth again this year,” Medlen said. “There will a booth with a radar gun set up to see how hard you throw a baseball, and a booth for Frisbee golf where you could win great prizes.”

Games of chance will include ring toss, dunk tank and booths with James Clemens and Liberty clubs.

Admission is $3 or free for five-year-olds and younger. Ride bands are available on both days.

“We are renting out space for any local vendors who might want to set up booths at the carnival,” Medlen said. Booth fee for 10 square feet is $75 and for 10 by 20 feet is $100, but discounts are offered to returning vendors from 2013. Registration deadline is Oct. 4.
