Columbia Drama Club to present ‘Peter Pan Jr.’

MADISON – Columbia Elementary School Drama Club will present “Peter Pan Jr.” on Jan. 30-31 in the James Clemens High School auditorium.

The 60-minute musical is designed for younger performers and is based on J.M. Barrie’s play and the 1953 Disney film.

Peter Pan Jr. tells the story of a boy who wouldn’t grow up and the girl who must. In the Darling family nursery, Peter teaches Wendy, Michael and John to fly and sweeps them off to Never Land. They meet the Lost Boys, mermaids, Indians and pirates.

Directors for “Peter Pan Jr.” are Karen Bagley and Jenny Webb. Teacher sponsor is Danae Young. The chorus has been rehearsing for the show since last November.

Gavin Newberry will portray Peter Pan. Kaija Sorensen has been cast as Tinker Bell.

The Fairies are Carly Parker (Iridessa), Lucy Webb (Silvermist), Lauren Merschat (Rosetta), Jenna Kay Chesser (Fawn), Shayla Hawkins (Lyria) and Heather Brady (Vidia).

Portraying the Darling Family are Abbi Dempsey (Wendy), Tynan Gibson (John), Lauren Hewell (Michael), Tenai Koduru (Mr. Darling), Autumn Mendez (Mrs. Darling) and Margaret (Martin Nana).

The Pirates are Tyler Bagley (Captain Hook), Ella Clark (Smee), Sofie Spitzmiller (Flint), Bryce Mason (Jukes), Kayden Gray (Cookson), Brandon Fisher (Murphy), Liam Robertson (Noodler), McKenna Stewart (Skylights) and Lydia Guyse (The Crocodile).

The Lost Boys are Ian Ayala Diaz (Cubby), Katie Rose Davis (Skunk), Dan Ayala Diaz (Hop), D.J. Adcock (Fox) and Adrienne Hymas and Kaitlyn Hockey (Raccoon Twins).

Cast as the Indians are Will Bagwell (Chief Tiger Bamboo), Kennedi Nichols (Tiger Lily), Nyah Lynch (Brave Pine), Lizzie Adcock (Brave Oak), Jordan Holden (Brave Shrub) and Sydney Campbell, Katie Staats and Gracie Beck (Indians).

The Mermaids are Bridget Humphrey (Aquata), Rosie Kilpatrick (Andrina), Ashlyn Newberry (Arista), Alyssa Tucker (Atina), Olivia Nastasie (Adella), Morgan Dunham (Allana) and Margaret Martin and Lydia Guyse (Mermaids).

Show times are Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 31 at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 and available at showtix4u.com.
