Fox, Jenkins, Tian and Ward named U.S. Presidential Scholars candidates

MADISON – Nathan Fox, Genny Jenkins, Tina Tian and Max Ward at Bob Jones High School are candidates for United States Presidential Scholar.

For 2015, 59 seniors were nominated in Alabama. Program officials select students based on SAT/ACT scores and achievements in the arts, leadership, character and volunteering.

Fox participates in Tri-M and Mu Alpha Theta honor societies, Patriot Singers, CHRIST Choir and math and EnviroBowl teams. He is an Advanced-Placement Scholar with Honor and a National Merit Finalist.

Nathan is undecided about a college choice but will study biochemistry. His parents are Stephen Fox and Shawn Fox. His stepmother is Laura Barrett.

Jenkins serves as National Honors Society secretary, Beta Club secretary, French Club vice president, Bob Jones Ambassador and participates in Physics Club, Student Government Association and varsity tennis.

Genny is an AP Scholar and Student of the Week winner. She will study physics at the University of Dallas. Her parents are Andy and Anne Jenkins.

Tian is Math Team co-captain; vice president of Mu Alpha Theta, Science National Honor Society and La Societe Honoraire de Francais; and science and chemistry clubs. A pianist and violinist, Tian has performed with Huntsville Youth Orchestra.

She is a National Merit Finalist and AP Scholar with Distinction. Tian has compiled honors in math, Science Olympiads and performing arts.

Tina’s parents are Guoqing Tian and Kanghong Li. Tina is awaiting college admission decisions and will study biomedical engineering or biological sciences.

Ward has played on Bob Jones baseball teams and enjoys chess. He is an AP Scholar with Honor, National Merit Finalist and Alabama Boys State delegate.

Max’s parents are Mark and Monica Ward. Max will attend the University of Alabama in their Honors College program. He will double major in business and economics, along with a focus on math.
