HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville-Madison County Public Library will continue a series of “Mind Your Money” advanced classes with financial workshops on “Basic Stock Valuation” on March 16 and 23.

The workshops will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the downtown library, 915 Monroe St. in Huntsville in the second-floor Events Room. These sessions offer “another chance to take your financial knowledge to a higher level,” communications director Ann Marie Martin said.

The program is free.

“This financial literacy program received such a strong reception last year that we have added a two-part advanced course to the grant program,” Martin said.

“Basic Stock Valuation” is an advanced two-part course that builds on the library’s basic “Mind Your Money” classes. “The library’s expert instructors will show you how to use basic stock investing tools, including Morningstar Investment Research Center,” Martin said.

This online database offers library patrons real-time access to comprehensive data and independent analysis on thousands of investments, spanning mutual funds, stocks, exchange-traded funds and closed-end funds.

For individuals who cannot attend the classes, recordings of previous “Basic Stock Valuation” classes are available online at hmcpl.org/mym. Handouts and worksheets from the stock classes and the original four-part “Mind Your Money” series are available online, too.

“Mind Your Money” is made possible by a grant from the Investor Education Foundation with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) through Smart investing@your library, a partnership with the American Library Association.

For more information, call library deputy director Sue Royer at 256-532-5952 or email to sroyer@hmcpl.org. For financial tips, visit hmcpl.org/mym and Facebook/mindyourmoneyhmcpl.
