City to sponsor three Easter egg hunts

MADISON – Children can attend various Easter egg hunts planned by the City of Madison.

The third annual Special Needs Easter Egg Hunt for children with disabilities will be held on April 3 at 5:30 p.m. at Dublin Memorial Park, 8324 Old Madison Pike. Children will hunt for Easter eggs in front of the park building. Sponsors are the Madison City Disability Advocacy Board and the City of Madison Parks and Recreation Department.

Also on April 3, the City of Madison and various volunteer groups will sponsor the eighth annual Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt for children from five to 12 years old. The hunt will be held at Dublin Park on soccer field no. 1 (Malcolm Field).

Gates will open at 7 p.m. for the flashlight hunt. The Easter egg hunt will start at dusk. Children should bring a flashlight and an Easter basket or container to collect eggs.

Daystar Church of Madison will sponsor the 18th annual Madison Easter Egg Hunt at Dublin Park on April 4. Gates will open at 9:30 a.m. for the hunt on soccer field no. 1. The fun with the hunt will start at 10 a.m.

This hunt is open to children of all ages. Any child that finds a golden egg will receive a prize (limit of one prize egg per child).

Organizers will allow parents to enter the gates with their child, but parents are asked to refrain from picking up any Easter eggs, Gayle Milam, the city’s event and volunteer coordinator, said.

Children should bring an Easter basket or container to collect eggs. The Easter Bunny will visit and be available for photographs, so parents are encouraged to bring their camera.
