HUNTSVILLE – An upcoming workshop will help military personnel who are leaving the armed services to begin new careers in the civilian workforce.

In its second year, the one-day Military-to-Civilian (M2C) Career Transition Assistance Program will be held on May 19 at the Huntsville office of NMR Consulting in the Regions Center, 200 Clinton Ave., Suite 710.

NMR and Still Serving Veterans organizations are collaborating to present the free workshop. Members of all branches of the military and veterans are invited to attend, publicist Leigh Thigpen said.

The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A continental breakfast and lunch will be served.

NMR Consulting is a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB). Still Serving Veterans, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, empowers veterans and their families for best possible shift into their post-military lives.

“Participants will receive individualized assistance with resume writing, interview preparation and online profile creation and revision from the human resources professionals and veterans of NMR and its teaming partners,” Thigpen said.

M2C participants will have in-depth interaction with instructors and assistants. Instructors will give personal attention and confirm that the soldiers’ individual needs and goals are met.

NMR Consulting, a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), offers services across five business lines: risk management, information technology, program management, logistics and security consulting. “Inc. Magazine” has named NMR as one of the nation’s fastest growing private companies.

Still Serving Veterans offers workforce development, assistance in accessing benefits and services earned during military service and quality referrals to existing local, state and national services. Staff members are veterans and civilians with extensive experience working with veterans and their families

In addition, Still Serving Veterans partners with OneStop Career Centers, Department of Veteran Affairs and the local Vet Center that provides counseling to veterans.

Registration is required. For more information or to register, call Thigpen at 256-704-2170, email to lthigpen@nmrconsulting.com or visit nmrconsulting.com.
