MADISON COUNTY – Families and teenagers have one more chance to learn about the first Yellowstone Adventure & Service Teen Leadership Development program scheduled for this summer.

The last information-sharing meeting will be held on April 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Hogan Family YMCA, 130 Park Square Lane in Madison.

Heart of the Valley YMCA has opened the Yellowstone adventure to all high school students, including rising ninth-graders through graduated seniors. YMCA membership is not required.

Application deadline is April 17. Yellowstone Adventure & Service is scheduled for July 21 through Aug. 2.

“Whether exploring the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, hiking to the summit of Mount Washburn, whitewater rafting on the Yellowstone River or studying the animals of the remote Lamar Valley, teens will develop lifelong friendships, leadership skills and a deeper understanding of the natural world around them,” YMCA Camp Director Joey Barnard said.

For acceptance into the program, teenagers must complete an application, reference forms, interview and complete 20 hours of volunteer service through the YMCA.

For more information, call Barnard at 256-705-9622, ext. 329, email to joey.barnard@ymcahuntsville.org or visit chalakee.org.
