Event helps open inside of Insanity Skate Park

MADISON – One week after the public got a glimpse of the facility on the corner of Hughes Road and Mill Road – Insanity Skate Park, for its soft opening – the Taste the Spirit of Madison bash, organized by the Madison Chamber of Commerce, helped bust open the sprawling entertainment campus to the Madison community.

In other words, the secret is out, and customers can now start enjoying all three phases of the park.

A large ribbon cutting the morning of June 13 kicked off Taste the Spirit of Madison and let the general public know it’s open for business. Owner Frank Pitts spoke at the ceremony, along with a host of Madison officials and the many employees of Insanity Skate Park.

“We are already being hit left and right with people looking for events,” said Pitts, who owns Quantum Research International, Inc. in Research Park and “several other” businesses in the area.

From 11 a.m., when the ribbon was cut, to the Bites & Brews event from 6-9 p.m., people from Madison and surrounding areas were able to view the fares, which include a climbing wall, arcade games, two skating rinks, private party rooms and a soon-to-open laser tag facility.

“Everything today has been so positive, and I’m pretty sure we’ll have topped 10,000 people by the end of the day,” general manager Brenda Buschmann said at the event.

The miniature golf, batting cages, outdoor skate park, Asylum Pro Shop (selling equipment for skateboarding, longboarding and more) and the new yogurt and coffee shop join what Pitts described as a one-stop destination for events in Madison.

“This is an event complex,” Pitts said. “It just happens to have a skating rink inside it.”
