MOORESVILLE – Chapter Z of P.E.O. International will host “Dinner in the Vineyard” at the scenic Creekside Plantation in historic Mooresville on Oct. 30.

P.E.O. is a philanthropic educational organization that promotes education for women. “We are an organization of women for women,” spokesperson Mary Lynn Botts said. “The fundraiser will provide funding for women with scholarships, loans and grants.”

The evening will open at 6:30 p.m. as guests enjoy appetizers during a tour of the vineyard. Guests can bid on an array of merchandise in a silent auction.

At 7 p.m., Chef Ina Rosa of Chef on Call will serve a seasonally inspired dinner. Following the salad course, guests will choose among entrees of prosciutto-wrapped pork loin with roasted apples, Cornish game hen or mushroom risotto. Side dishes will be sweet potatoes with brown butter, green beans almondine with truffle oil and braised red cabbage.

Dinner in the Vineyard’s dessert choices will be pumpkin cheesecake with nutmeg creme and German apple, gingerbread, chocolate Grand Marnier and caramel-glazed pear cakes. During dinner, storyteller Jerry Barksdale will charm the audience in the vineyard setting.

The Flashbacks will entertain with finger-snapping tunes ranging from Motown and soul to disco and pop for dancing from 8 to 11 p.m. Non- alcoholic drinks will be served, but guests can BYOB.

Founded in 1869 in Iowa, the P.E.O. organization has approximately 6,000 local chapters in the United States and Canada with approximately 250,000 active members. North Alabama has nine P.E.O. chapters and 39 throughout the state with more than 1,300 members.

The P.E.O. organization proudly makes a difference in women’s lives with six philanthropies that include ownership of Cottey College and five projects that provide higher educational assistance.

The nonprofit P.E.O. Foundation was established in 1961 to encourage tax-deductible giving to the educational and charitable projects of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Tickets are $65 per person or $480 for a reserved table of eight. For tickets, visit peozee.org or email to chapterz1992@gmail.com. Advance ticket purchase is required by Oct. 23.
