MADISON – Madison Police Department has arrested three individuals related to the Dec. 9 shooting on Coral Court in Limestone County (within Madison’s city limits).

When officers arrived in the 200 block of Coral Court, a 24-year-old male with a gunshot wound was in the home’s front yard. Police officers called an ambulance to take the man to the emergency department at Huntsville Hospital.

Witnesses claimed that three men in masks ran from the home and were driving a dark, mid-size sedan.

Madison police investigators determined the shooting occurred when the three suspects attempted to rob the victim of a quantity of marijuana. The would-be robber shot the victim once in the leg with a small-caliber firearm.

Police arrested these individuals:

* Tyler Taylor of Athens, 21, for robbery first degree and assault first degree.

* Shakeema Goode of Decatur, 24, robbery first degree and assault first degree.

* A juvenile of Decatur, 17, robbery first degree and assault first degree. The juvenile male is being charged as an adult; however, his name will not be released at this time.

All three individuals have been booked into the Limestone County Jail with a $30,000 bond each.

As the investigation progresses, police anticipate additional charges.

During the incident, schools in the vicinity were placed on ‘code yellow’: James Clemens high, Liberty middle and Heritage and Mill Creek elementary schools. ‘Code yellow’ for Madison City Schools means that all students remain in the building, and the staff locks doors and windows in classrooms until police announce an all-clear.

City of Madison Police Department’s address is 100 Hughes Road in City Hall. For emergency situations, call 9-1-1. For situations that aren’t an emergency, call 256-772-5658.
