MADISON COUNTY – Crestwood Medical Center and the Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County have presented grants to eight local nonprofit organizations in Madison County, including Inside-Out Ministries and Kids to Love in Madison.

The funds were distributed from the 2015 Crestwood Women & Families Fund. This fund’s mission is to establish a grant-making fund for high-impact grants to address issues and meet immediate needs of women and families in our community, Lori Light said. Light is Crestwood’s Director of Marketing and Communications.

Crestwood employees, volunteers and local residents contributed approximately $20,000 to replenish the fund before 2015 distributions. Officials invited not-for-profit organizations in the community that serve women and families to apply for grant funding by following a formal process.

An advisory committee with Crestwood Women’s Advisory Council members, Crestwood employees and volunteers reviewed applications and recommended recipients.

Each of the following eight organizations received $2,500.

Located in Madison, Inside-Out Ministries will offer emergency assistance for single women and single mothers with food, shelter, vision/dental care and budget counseling, while targeting long-term solutions.

With new headquarters in Madison, Kids to Love Foundation will promote graduation rates for children in foster care and provide training for self-sufficiency as an adult.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Alabama will use funds for their Fit and Active Initiative to encourage participants in physical fitness activities. CASA (Care Assurance System for the Aging and Homebound) of Madison County will help female senior citizens with hearing aids.

Hospice of Marshall County needed funds for Camp Hope, which helps children after the death of a loved one. Huntsville Assistance Program (HAP) will help families in crisis and facing homelessness with emergency utility payments, rent assistance and a food pantry.

Kid One Transport System Inc. transports children or expectant mothers to needed medical care. New Hope Children’s Clinic will provide medical, dental, vision and mental health care for children who are uninsured.
