MADISON – Huntsville-Madison County Public Library is reprising “Mind Your Money,” a popular series of financial literacy classes.

Classes will start Jan. 14 and continue during January, February and March. Classes will be held on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Events Room on second floor of the downtown Huntsville library, 915 Monroe St.

Admission is free. Registration is not required.

“You can begin to sharpen your savings savvy and investing know-how with four basic classes covering such topics as savings plans, investment options and assessing and managing risks,” communications director Ann Marie Martin said.

On Jan. 14, the series will open with “Practical Steps to Building Wealth.” Other classes will be “Net Worth & Basic Investment Options,” Jan. 21, “Principles of Investing,” Jan. 28; and “Creating and Managing a Portfolio,” Feb. 4.

“Then, you can boost your stock investing skills with two more advanced classes in ‘Basic Stock Valuation’ on March 3 and ‘Advanced Class II’ on March 10,” Martin said.

Class instructor Stephen Speciale works as a budget analyst with the Missile Defense Agency. Speciale was one of the instructors for the library’s original “Mind Your Money” series.

“Mind Your Money” original classes were funded by a grant from the Investor Education Foundation with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) through “Smart investing @ your library,” a partnership with the American Library Association.
