MADISON – Two seniors at Bob Jones High School are taking their civic duty seriously by running as delegates for the Democratic National Convention.

Tyler Bullard and Jordan Cozby are campaigning to be delegates pledged to presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in this summer’s Democratic convention.

“In the Democratic primary on March 1, voters will have the opportunity to select the presidential candidate of their choice and vote for the delegates they would prefer to represent their candidate at the convention,” Cozby said.

“Tyler and I are running to support a candidate we have faith in and to give young people a seat at the table in making important decisions within our party,” Cozby said.

All candidates for delegate must be 18 years old by the election. Bullard already is 18. Cozby’s 18th birthday will be Feb. 27.

Bullard’s work in the political process started in 2012 with volunteering, such as voter registration and phone banking.

“I’ve been a supporter of Secretary Clinton since her run for president in 2008. My support grew during her tenure as Secretary of State. I believe she is the one to continue the reforms and changes brought on by the Obama administration,” Bullard said.

“I’m excited to cast my very first ballot for the woman I have the most faith in to fight for voting rights, equal rights, common sense gun control and the environment,” Bullard said. He plans to major in secondary education at Jacksonville State University.

Cozby was a Fall Fellow in the 2012 Obama for America campaign and serves on the Hillary for Alabama Leadership Council. “Secretary Clinton has continued to show she has the leadership and experience needed to guide our nation forward in the years to come,” Cozby said.

“I am tremendously excited about her candidacy and believe she will make progress on several important issues including criminal justice reform, college affordability and foreign relations,” Cozby said.

Cozby serves as national chairman of High School Democrats of America. His political commentary has been published in numerous publications, including “The Huffington Post.”

Cozby is a National Merit Semifinalist.
