HARVEST – At a point when Emily Howard was feeling “adrift,” she received an answer that is taking her to Rwanda.

At the beginning of the year, Howard was unsure about her direction in life. She prayed, “Lord, just show me. Lead me. Show me where you want me to go.”

The next day in a staff meeting, her pastor at Ford’s Chapel United Methodist Church, where she works as administrative assistant, told about an upcoming mission trip. “I immediately said, ‘Yes!,’ without even asking where I was going.”

On May 26 to June 6, Howard will join e3 Partners Ministry for the group’s ninth visit to Rwanda. Local coordinators are Mike and Mary Wagner of Huntsville (mary.wagner@e3partners.org).

“Rwanda has been broken by genocide and disease with an estimated 1 million orphans, but, since then, some amazing advancements have been made. I am excited and humbled to go,” Howard said.

Howard and her team will work near the area of Butare, Rwanda and will partner with the church there “as we go out each day and share Christ’s message of love, mercy and grace with the people of the villages. We will disciple and equip them as we plant churches in these areas where there are none.”

Total cost for her trip is $4,100. Individuals interested in donating to the Rwanda mission can visit purecharity.com/emily-howards-fundraiser-for-Rwanda.

Her husband Jess is a member of Alabama National Guard Association. Their children are Megan Tooley, a student at Troy University, and Connor and Caleb, fifth-grader and first-grader, respectively, at Monrovia Elementary School.
