Pride shows in Triana’s ‘Community United’

MADISON – Triana Mayor Mary Caudle and Town Council have proclaimed April as the Town of Triana’s Community Pride Month. The 2016 theme is “Community United.”

“As part of our commitment to end littering and illegal dumping, I welcome and encourage any and all citizens, churches and business to participate in the Town of Triana’s sixth annual Town Pride Cleanup Day on April 23,” Caudle said. “Let’s join together in making the Town of Triana and our neighborhoods litter free.

Cleanup day “is a volunteer community event to help us show pride for our community,” Caudle said.

City workers and Caudle have designated areas for trash pickup, like roadways, parks, lakes and river docks. “Also, your neighbors or an elderly citizen may need your help,” Caudle said. “This is also great project for the youth to help meet community services requirements for many schools.”

“This is more than a cleanup day,” Nathan Clark said. Clark lives in Triana’s Savannah neighborhood. “This is an opportunity for our community to come together in unity as neighbors, families and friends and make a positive impact on where we call home.”

At 8 a.m., Clark will open the day with a welcome. Andrew Seja with Martinson and Beason will donate breakfast. Dr. Reverend Emmanuel Invocation with Kanunu St. Paul United Methodist Church will lead the invocation.

Rev. Josh Brit with Courageous Church will introduce Caudle, public officials and first responders. Casey Whitman and Luis Ferrer will explain the event’s logistics. Lambert Relocation will serve hot dogs for lunch at 11:30 a.m. at Town Hall.

“Our vision … is to bring the community together in unity as neighbors, families and friends in the midst of the tensions and divisions we’re experiencing in our communities and as a nation,” Clark said.

The Town of Triana’s maintenance/street department has one full-time employee and one part-time worker in summer. “It’s hard to keep the roadways clean.  We are asking you to join in by helping us end littering and keeping our town and neighborhoods clean,” Caudle said.
