Apply now for women’s job corps classes

MADISON – Christian Women’s Job Corps (CWJC) is accepting applications for its free classes in fall 2016.

“Christian Women’s Job Corps is a free, faith-based job readiness program designed to provide experiences and skills that allow our graduates to compete in the job market and create a brighter future for themselves and their families,” Susan Elder said.

Elder works as site coordinator for the corps at Inside-Out Ministries, 103 Gin Oaks Court in Madison. Women from 18 to 60 years old are eligible.

Students can choose among core classes:

* Bible study — Teaches students how to apply Biblical knowledge to everyday living. Based on Biblical doctrine, not denomination.
* Career — Explores career options to help students prepare for, obtain and maintain employment.
* Computer skills — Teaches beginning level skills in typing, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and Internet usage. Students complete a letter, resume and other projects.
* Money matters — Teaches foundations of money and finance management including budgeting, savings, tithing and credit.

In Madison at Inside-Out, classes in the 10-week semester are held on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Application deadline is Aug. 12. Orientation is Aug. 31. Classes start Sept. 6.

For Whitesburg Baptist’s 3911 Pulaski Pike campus, application deadline is Aug. 3. Classes on Monday through Wednesday run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Orientation will be Aug. 24 with classes starting Aug. 29.

At Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church, 2115 Winchester Road NW, applications will be due July 29. Classes meet for 12 weeks starting on Aug. 22 on Monday and Thursday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Orientation and the first day of class will be Aug. 22.

Classes at First Baptist Church in Huntsville start Sept 6. Application deadline is Aug. 17. Classes meet Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Orientation will be Sept. 1.
