Quarterback DeFour calls for Seahawks, Chiefs

MADISON – For Joshua DeFour, his favorite sport memory occurred while playing Upward Football this year when he intercepted a pass and made a “Pick 6.”

In Upward Football, DeFour is quarterback for the Seahawks and Chiefs teams. He can play at the positions of running back, wide receiver and tight end, too.

“Upward Football is his favorite because he likes running with and catching footballs. His interest in football comes from collecting player cards, playing football video games and watching football on TV,” his father Bob DeFour said.

Also with the Upward organization, DeFour plays basketball as a point guard for the Jays. In AYSO Soccer, he takes the field as a striker for the Strikers and Lightning teams.

Joshua is a fourth-grader at Legacy Elementary School. He is involved with the K-Kids community service group and ACE (Accelerated Curriculum Through Enrichment). He serves as a library aid and helps with the Legacy Postal Service.

Bob DeFour works for PeopleTec Inc. Joshua’s mother Mary has taught English for 15 years at Bob Jones High School “before becoming the CEO of the DeFour residence full time,” Bob said.

Joshua’s siblings are Mary Kathryn, a senior at St. Bernard’s Preparatory School, and John Curtis, a sixth-grader at Monrovia Middle School. “We moved to Madison in 2004 to combine our households and be closer to where we worked,” Bob said.
