Bob Jones stays unbeaten in region play

MADISON — Bob Jones High School running back Isaiah Hatchett said the tone Patriots coaches set during halftime was “fiery. Our coaches, and Coach (Kevin) Rose, really got after us in the locker room and challenged us to come back out and play hard,” Hatchett said. “We accepted the challenge.”

The Patriots posted two touchdowns in the second quarter after a scoreless first, then pulled away in the second half to defeat Huntsville 34-6 in a Class 7A, Region 4 football game.

It was 13-0 at halftime.

Bob Jones, ranked No. 6, improved to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the region.

Huntsville fell to 1-3, 1-2.

“We are always proud to win a game and especially a region game but we’ve got to improve. We need better leadership from our seniors and better leadership from our captains,” Rose said.

Rose said that the Patriots at times lost focus.

“And that’s not coach-led, that has to be player led.”

Jaylen Williams, who finished with 153 rushing yards and two touchdowns, scored on a 39-yard run and Demontrez Brown went in from the 26-yard line in the second quarter.

In the second half, Hatchett scored from the 4 and Williams scored on a 56-yard run

Brady Polson threw a 56-yard TD pass to Milkhi Stewart.

Polson completed 6-of- 12 for for 123 yards with the one TD and two interceptions. Milkyle Stewart had an interception for the third straight game.

Bob Jones hosts 6A Florence for homecoming this week.
