MADISON – Ten-year-old Max McGee never will forget a soccer game when he scored “three goals in a row — back to back to back. It felt awesome!”
This year, Max has played striker on the regular AYSO U12 Boys team. After several weeks of tryouts, he was selected for the year-long AYSO “Extra” U12 Boys team, similar to an all-star team. The Extra team plays outdoor soccer year-round in tournaments and AYSO indoor soccer.
In addition, this summer Max played on an AYSO “Select” Team. He played striker and sweeper.
In baseball, Max has played many years for Madison Baseball Association at Palmer Park. Next spring, he’ll play at “Major” level. Pitcher and shortstop are his usual duties.
In flag football, he plays in Upward Sports with First Baptist Church of Madison. He plays quarterback, receiver, running back and defense.
Soccer is his overall favorite. “I love scoring, running fast, stealing the ball and ‘juking out’ people,” Max said. For his regular AYSO team, he has led scoring for two years, averaging two goals per game.
At Horizon Elementary School, Max is a fifth-grader. He’s a member of Horizon Lego Robotics Team and Horizon Ambassadors.
Max’s parents are Ben and LeAnne Letize McGee. Ben is President/CEO of CyberProtex, a Madison cyber security firm. A former attorney, LeAnne now is a stay-at-home mom. She’s active with PTA at Horizon, Discovery Middle School and city-wide council.
Max’s siblings are Discovery seventh-grader Alia; Horizon third-grader Zac; and Horizon kindergartner Zoe.
The McGees relocated from Clearwater, Fla. in 2006 with Ben’s job at NASA. “We ended up loving Madison so much that we made it our permanent home,” LeAnne said.
