MADISON – After growing up in South Huntsville, Sharon Webber moved to Madison in 1993 when her parents built a house.
The town “was nothing but cotton fields and farmland. I remember when there was nothing but one grocery store and a movie rental store. You could drive on Hwy. 72 and never even need a traffic light to help direct everyone,” Webber said.
“Madison is home. It’s a city that has grown up right along with me. I’ve seen lots of changes through the years, but the small-town feel remains the same,” she said.
Webber enjoys convenience of nearby shopping, restaurants and entertainment but also enjoys “cotton fields and cows not too far from my home. Madison has unique historic areas but also newly developed areas.”
“I was born in Decatur, because in 1978 Decatur General Hospital was the only hospital that would allow fathers in the delivery room. I grew up in south Huntsville but had friends who lived in Madison and visited them frequently,” Webber said.
Sharon has three daughters: Olivia, 13; Lauren, 11; and LeighAnne, 8. As a single mom of three daughters, Sharon finds volunteer time virtually non-existent but does schedule time to help at church and food banks.
Sharon works as Director of Clinical Services for six health centers in Alabama and Tennessee with CareHere LLC. “We partner with both municipalities and private companies across the United States to provide a free health and wellness center to their employees,” she said. “I’m blessed to work from home most days.”
Their dog Lily is a Boykin Spaniel, “a breed uncommon in this area but very popular in South Carolina and South Alabama. She’s a bird dog, but around here she just lives for the moment someone throws a ball for her to retrieve. She brings a lot of joy to my children. Lily has even grown on me a little, too,” Sharon said.
“Music reaches my heart like nothing else. Working from home allows me the freedom to listen to music all day,” Sharon said. She likes all styles — Christian, pop, country, classical and her favorite genre, the 1980s. “My kids just roll their eyes and walk away when they hear it on in my office.”
For entertainment, Stem and Stein is a fun spot, she said. “I was there this past summer and enjoyed the live music on their outdoor lighted patio.”
