MADISON – Art students at Discovery Middle School have earned first-place honors in the 2017 Daughters of the American Revolution Art Contest.

“These students placed first in competition for Madison County, and their work will now be entered at state and national level. Congratulations!” Discovery art teacher Raquel Spiegel said.

“I am so proud of my students for their hard work and dedication especially when assigned written work,” Spiegel said.

In the stamp design category, Susan Xiao won among entries for eighth grade, and Danica Vu was the top artist for seventh grade. For poetry, awards went to Julianna Taylor for eighth grade and to Sara Beth Chaney and Katy Uptain in seventh grade.

Winners in the Short Story category were Emma Hardy for eighth grade and Kaylee Simon for seventh grade.
