Food Truck Rally features Harris from ‘American Idol’

MADISON – The 2017 series for the Downtown Madison Food Truck Rally will launch on May 5 with a concert by an “American Idol” finalist.

C.J. Harris, who reached sixth place in the 2014 season of “American Idol,” will perform on Old Black Bear Brewery’s new outdoor stage at the Railyard at 212 Main St. The concert is free to the public.

The rally will open at 5 p.m. and will close at 8 p.m.

More than 20 food and dessert trucks will attend the Madison rally. Organizers state that seating will be limited and encourage visitors to bring tailgate chairs. The public is welcome to come enjoy the weather, food, great music and a beer from Old Black Bear.

The food vendors will line up with their tempting concessions on Main Street, along with Garner and Wise streets that run north/south and intersect Main Street.

Harris won many fans on “American Idol” with his heartfelt vocals delivered with a unique individualistic sound. His repertoire on the talent contest focused on country music, mixed in with the sounds of Southern rock.

The 26-year-old entertainer hails from Jasper and was one of two ‘idol’ finalists from Alabama in the 2014 season.

Harris auditioned in Salt Lake City by singing “Soulshine.” For his first song in the Hollywood competition, he sang “Trouble.” In the show’s “final judgement” round, judges asked Harris to sing “Whipping Post.” (usatoday.com, Wikipedia.com)
